About Saint Agatha of Sicily

Agatha was a young Christian woman martyred at Catania in Sicily around 251 during the persecution of Decius. Ancient devotion celebrates her consecrated virginity and refusal to submit to a governor’s coercion despite brutal torture. She became Catania’s patroness, and her veil is traditionally invoked for protection when Mount Etna threatens.

Prayer

Pray with Saint Agatha of Sicily

God of inviolable dignity, you sustained Saint Agatha when violence sought to control her body and silence her faith. Through her intercession, protect people facing abuse, strengthen survivors, and give us courage to defend every person’s freedom and worth. Amen.
