About Saint Maria Crocifissa di Rosa
Paola di Rosa grew up in nineteenth-century Brescia and organized women to nurse victims during a cholera epidemic and wartime hospital crisis. Taking the name Maria Crocifissa, she founded the Handmaids of Charity to care for sick people with professional attention and Christian tenderness. Her leadership joined practical administration, Eucharistic prayer, and courageous service in emergencies.
