About Pope Saint Zephyrinus
Zephyrinus was bishop of Rome from about 199 to 217, when Christians faced intermittent persecution and vigorous debate about how to speak of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Much surviving information comes from a hostile critic, so his abilities are difficult to assess fairly. He entrusted administration of the church cemetery to the future Pope Callistus.
