About Pope Saint Anastasius I
Anastasius served briefly as bishop of Rome from 399 to 401. He is remembered for opposing teachings attributed to Origen that he judged harmful, communicating with churches in North Africa, and earning praise from Jerome for holiness and firmness. The brevity of his pontificate leaves limited evidence, yet it reflects the demanding doctrinal disputes of the early Church.
