About Pope Saint Marcellus I
Marcellus led the Church of Rome briefly around 308–309, as Christians emerged from Diocletian’s persecution. Tradition remembers him restoring places of worship and organizing pastoral care while insisting that those who had renounced the faith undertake penance before reconciliation. Conflict followed, and Emperor Maxentius banished him from Rome.

Merciful God, you called Pope Saint Marcellus to rebuild wounded Christian communities after persecution. Through his intercession, give pastors wisdom, penitents hope, and all believers courage to unite accountability with mercy when trust and communion must be restored. Amen.
