About Pope Saint Clement I
Clement was an early bishop of Rome traditionally counted among Peter’s successors. The letter known as First Clement, written from the Roman church to troubled Christians in Corinth around the end of the first century, urges humility, order, repentance, and restored unity. Later stories of his exile and martyrdom are devotional traditions rather than securely documented history.
