Pray and Do Not Give Up

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Merciful Father, you sustained St. Monica through years of prayer for those she loved. Through her intercession, give me patience when change is slow, wisdom in my words, and hope when someone seems far from you. Receive every tear I cannot explain, and draw my family more deeply into the life of Christ. Amen.

He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray and not give up,

Monica's long waiting was not passive resignation. She kept praying, sought wise counsel, and remained faithful to the good before her. Perseverance does not mean repeating anxious words without rest; it means placing the same beloved person back into God's hands whenever fear takes over.

Faithful God, I am tired of waiting and tempted to give up. Renew my prayer without feeding my anxiety. Through St. Monica's intercession, help me do the loving work that is mine and entrust the hidden work of conversion to you. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
