Holy Souls Novena

8

No More Tears

Day 8 of 9 · 4 min

  1. 01

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  2. 02

    Opening

O God, Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of your servants the forgiveness of all their sins. Through our prayers may they obtain the mercy they have always desired. By the merits of your Son's death and resurrection, lead them out of every shadow and into your perfect light. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  3. 03

    Your Intention

Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.

In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.

  4. 04

    Scripture

    Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.

  5. 05

    Reflection

We pray for the dead because we long for them to reach the place where God wipes away every tear, where death and mourning and pain are no more. This is the destination of all our prayers: not merely relief, but the fullness of joy in God's presence. As this novena nears its close, we lift our eyes to that promised world.

  6. 06

    Prayer

Lord, you have promised a world where every tear is wiped away and death is no more. Bring the souls I love into that joy, where mourning and pain have passed away forever. Comfort me as I wait, and let the hope of that day dry my own tears. May they soon see you face to face. Amen.

  7. 07

    Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  8. 08

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  9. 09

    Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

  10. 10

    Closing

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

  11. 11

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
