Blessed Are the Dead

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of your servants the forgiveness of all their sins. Through our prayers may they obtain the mercy they have always desired. By the merits of your Son's death and resurrection, lead them out of every shadow and into your perfect light. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I heard a voice from heaven saying, 'Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'that they may rest from their labors, for their works follow with them.'

Heaven itself calls the faithful dead blessed, for they rest from their labors and their good works go with them. On this final day we commend all the souls we have prayed for to the mercy of God, asking for them eternal rest and perpetual light. What we cannot do for them, his mercy can; we entrust them fully to him.

Lord, blessed are those who die in you, for they rest from their labors. I commend to your mercy all the souls I have carried through these nine days, and all the faithful departed who have no one to pray for them. Grant them eternal rest, let perpetual light shine upon them, and bring them at last into your presence forever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
