From the Pierced Heart
Day 8 of 9 · 4 min
- 01
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
- 02
Opening
Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Most merciful Jesus, I trust in you.
- 03
Your Intention
Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.
In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.
- 04
Scripture
John 19:34However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
- 05
Reflection
From the opened side of Christ came blood and water, the very streams that flow over us in the sacraments. Mercy is not an abstract idea; it has a wound and a source. When we trust in Divine Mercy, we are trusting in what poured out from a Heart that loved us all the way to the end.
- 06
Prayer
Jesus, from your pierced Heart flowed the fountain of mercy that washes the world. Let those streams of blood and water flow over me and over everyone I carry in prayer. Hide me in your wounded side, and let me draw all my life and healing from the love that did not spare itself for me. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.
- 07
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
- 08
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- 09
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
- 10
Closing
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Jesus, King of Mercy, I trust in you. Amen.
