About Saint Vincent of Lérins
Vincent was a fifth-century monk at the island monastery of Lérins in southern Gaul. Writing under the name Peregrinus, he composed the Commonitorium, a guide for discerning faithful Christian teaching amid doctrinal disputes. He emphasized continuity with the Church’s universal and ancient faith while allowing genuine understanding to develop without changing its identity.
