About Saint Theodore of Amasea

Theodore, often called Theodore the Recruit, is honored as a Roman soldier martyred at Amasea in Pontus during the early fourth century. Ancient preaching attests his cult, while later accounts add dramatic details that are difficult to verify. Christians remembered a young serviceman who refused pagan worship and accepted death rather than deny Christ.
