About Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Teresa became a Loreto sister and teacher in India before founding the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. She and her sisters served people dying on the streets, abandoned children, and others in severe poverty. Her private writings also revealed persevering faith through decades of spiritual darkness.

God of love, through Saint Teresa of Calcutta’s intercession, open our eyes to Christ hidden in people who are poor, sick, lonely, or unwanted. Give us courage to do small things with great love, even when consolation is absent. Amen.
