About Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne
Rose Philippine Duchesne entered the Society of the Sacred Heart after the French Revolution and at forty-nine sailed to the United States. She founded schools amid frontier hardship in Missouri and longed to serve Indigenous people. In old age she lived among the Potawatomi, who remembered her sustained prayer, though her mission shared the era’s cultural limitations.
