About Saint Rita of Cascia
Rita was born near Cascia, Italy, in the late fourteenth century. After an often-troubled marriage and the deaths of her husband and sons, she entered the Augustinian convent in Cascia. She became known for prayer, peacemaking, and sharing in Christ’s suffering, symbolized by a wound on her forehead associated with the crown of thorns.
