About Saint Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Our Lady of Mount Carmel honors Mary as patroness of the Carmelite family, whose roots reach to hermits living near the prophet Elijah’s mountain in the Holy Land. Carmelite tradition associates the brown scapular with Mary’s maternal care. The devotion calls Christians to prayer, simplicity, and faithful discipleship under her guidance.
