About Saint John the Baptist (Nativity)
The Church celebrates John the Baptist’s birth six months before Christmas, following Luke’s account of Elizabeth and Zechariah. His unexpected conception, prophetic naming, and Zechariah’s restored speech announce God’s mercy. John would prepare Israel for Jesus, call people to repentance, baptize in the Jordan, and identify Christ as the promised one.

Pray with Saint John the Baptist (Nativity)
God of promise, you gave Elizabeth and Zechariah joy in John’s birth and called him to prepare the way for Christ. Through his intercession, free our voices for praise, turn our hearts toward repentance, and make us joyful witnesses who point beyond ourselves to Jesus. Amen.
