About Saint John of Ávila
John of Ávila was a sixteenth-century Spanish priest, missionary preacher, spiritual director, and reformer. After abandoning plans for service in the Americas, he evangelized Andalusia, guided figures including Teresa of Ávila and John of God, and wrote the spiritual classic Audi, filia. Pope Benedict XVI declared him a Doctor of the Church.
