About Saint John Gabriel Perboyre
John Gabriel Perboyre was a French Vincentian priest who longed to serve in China, where his brother had died en route. He ministered secretly in Hubei and Henan until arrest during an anti-Christian campaign. After imprisonment and torture, he was executed at Wuchang in 1840, forgiving his persecutors and uniting his suffering with Christ.
