About Saint Francis of Paola
Francis, born in Calabria in 1416, embraced eremitical life while still young and founded the Minims, whose name expressed their desire to be the least. Their rule joined prayer and poverty to perpetual Lenten abstinence. Known as a peacemaker and defender of the poor, Francis later served King Louis XI’s court in France.
