About Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
Elizabeth Ann Seton, born in New York in 1774, was a wife, mother, widow, and convert to Catholicism. In Emmitsburg, Maryland, she founded the Sisters of Charity of Saint Joseph and opened a school that helped inspire the American Catholic parochial-school system. She became the first native-born United States citizen canonized.
