About Saint Charles de Foucauld
Charles de Foucauld moved from an undisciplined military life through exploration and conversion into Trappist, domestic, priestly, and finally eremitical vocations. Living among the Tuareg at Tamanrasset, he studied their language, welcomed neighbors, and sought to proclaim Jesus through friendship and Eucharistic presence. He was killed during local unrest in 1916.
