About Saint Augustine of Hippo
Augustine, born in Roman North Africa, pursued rhetoric, ambition, and competing philosophies before conversion in Milan and baptism by Ambrose. As bishop of Hippo, he preached and wrote extensively on grace, Scripture, the Trinity, society, and the restless human heart. His Confessions remains a searching prayer addressed directly to God.
