About Pope Saint Pius X
Giuseppe Sarto rose from a poor Venetian family to become Pope Pius X from 1903 to 1914. He encouraged frequent Communion and lowered the usual age for children’s First Communion, while pursuing reforms in liturgy, church music, and canon law. His campaign against Modernism also brought restrictive measures and controversy.
