About Pope Saint Cletus
Cletus, often identified with Anacletus, appears in ancient lists among the first bishops of Rome after Peter, probably serving late in the first century. Little reliable information survives about his origin, ministry, or death, and later martyr narratives cannot be confirmed. His memorial honors the largely anonymous leaders who preserved apostolic faith.
