Novena of Trust

8

His Peace, Not the World's

Day 8 of 9 · 4 min

  1. 01

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  2. 02

    Opening

Jesus, I come to you with open hands. I want to stop carrying alone what was never meant to be mine to carry. Quiet the fear in me, steady my restless heart, and help me to believe that you are good, that you are near, and that you are at work even where I cannot see. Into your hands I place this day, and everything in it. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.

  3. 03

    Your Intention

Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.

In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.

  4. 04

    Scripture

    John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

  5. 05

    Reflection

The world offers a fragile peace that depends on everything going right. The peace of Christ is different: it can hold even when circumstances do not. As we near the end of this novena, we ask not for the absence of trouble, but for the peace that remains in the middle of it, the peace only he can give.

  6. 06

    Prayer

Jesus, give me your peace, the kind the world cannot give and cannot take away. Let it guard my heart when the news is bad and the future is uncertain. I do not ask you to remove every trouble, only to keep my heart from being troubled. Be my peace in the storm. Amen.

  7. 07

    Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  8. 08

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  9. 09

    Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

  10. 10

    Closing

Jesus, I surrender myself to you; take care of everything. I trust that you love me more than I love myself, and that you are working for my good even now. I let go of my need to control the outcome and place my intention, my future, and my whole self into your hands. Whatever you allow, give me the grace to receive it with peace. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.

  11. 11

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
