All Things Work Together

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Jesus, I come to you with open hands. I want to stop carrying alone what was never meant to be mine to carry. Quiet the fear in me, steady my restless heart, and help me to believe that you are good, that you are near, and that you are at work even where I cannot see. Into your hands I place this day, and everything in it. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

This promise does not say that all things are good, but that God can work all things together for good. He does not waste our suffering; he weaves it. Even the part of your story that makes no sense right now is not outside his reach, and in his hands it can become part of something redemptive.

Lord, I do not understand why some things have happened, and I will not pretend that they were good. But I trust that you can bring good even out of this. Take the broken threads of my life and weave them into something whole. Help me to love you and to trust your purpose, even before I can see it. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
