St. Dymphna Novena

4

Peace I Leave With You

Day 4 of 9 · 4 min

  1. 01

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  2. 02

    Opening

O God, you gave St. Dymphna to your people as a comfort to all who suffer in mind and heart. As I begin this novena, look gently on the burdens I carry within. Through her intercession, bring peace to my troubled thoughts and healing to my anxious heart. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  3. 03

    Your Intention

Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.

In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.

  4. 04

    Scripture

    John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

  5. 05

    Reflection

Jesus gives a peace unlike anything the world offers - not dependent on circumstances, not easily stolen. To the troubled heart he says, do not be afraid. St. Dymphna, who held her peace through real terror, points us to this gift that no fear can finally take away.

  6. 06

    Prayer

Lord Jesus, you give a peace the world cannot give and trouble cannot take. Speak to my troubled heart your gentle word: do not be afraid. Through the intercession of St. Dymphna, let your peace take root in me, deeper than my circumstances and stronger than my fear, so that my heart is no longer troubled. Amen.

  7. 07

    Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  8. 08

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  9. 09

    Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

  10. 10

    Closing

St. Dymphna, patroness of those who suffer in mind and spirit, you kept your faith through fear and trial. Intercede for me and for all who carry anxiety, sorrow, or distress of mind. Ask the Lord to quiet my troubled thoughts, to heal what is wounded within me, and to give me the peace that the world cannot give. Amen.

  11. 11

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
