Train Up a Child

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, you chose St. Anne to be the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandmother of our Savior. As I begin this novena, let me honor the faith she handed on. Through her intercession, bless my family across its generations, and hear the longing of my heart. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Scripture counsels us to train up a child in the way they should go. St. Anne formed Mary so well that she became the most faithful of all disciples. On this last day, we ask Anne's help in the patient, daily work of forming the young toward God, and we lay our intention in her hands.

Lord, you ask that children be trained in the way they should go, and you formed Mary through the faithful care of Anne. Give me wisdom and patience in guiding the young entrusted to me. Through the intercession of St. Anne, grant the intention I have carried in this novena, and let the children of my family grow up to love and serve you. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Good St. Anne, mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus, you knew the longings of family life and the faithfulness of God. Take my intention into your motherly care and present it to the Lord. Watch over my parents and children, my home and all I love, and obtain for us the grace to hand on faith from one generation to the next. Amen.
