Come to Me

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with a contrite heart I offer you this prayer. Make my heart humble and patient like your own. Let me live in you and for you, so that whatever I do this day may be done out of love. Receive me into your Heart, and keep me there. Amen.

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart begins with an invitation, not a demand. Jesus does not say, become worthy and then approach; he says, come to me as you are, burdened and tired. The first movement of this novena is simply to accept that invitation and bring the weight you are carrying to a Heart that wants it.

Lord Jesus, you call the weary to yourself, and I am weary. I bring you the burdens I have been carrying alone for too long. Let me lay them down at your Heart and find there the rest you promise. Teach me, over these nine days, to keep coming back to you. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in your love for me. To you I consecrate my whole life: my heart for your love, my hands for your work, my voice for your praise. Make my heart like yours. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me. Amen.
