Stand in God's Strength

Merciful God, you called St. Pio of Pietrelcina to serve Christ as a Capuchin priest and to spend himself for souls. Through his intercession, draw me closer to the Eucharist, reconciliation, and faithful prayer. Give me patience in suffering, compassion for the sick, and confidence in your grace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Padre Pio took temptation seriously, yet the center of spiritual struggle is God's strength rather than fascination with evil. The armor Scripture gives is truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer. We stand by remaining close to Christ and refusing both presumption and fear.

God of strength, guard my mind and heart from temptation, deception, and fear. Clothe me in truth, faith, and righteousness. Through St. Pio's intercession, make me vigilant without anxiety and quick to seek the help of your grace today. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
