The Rejected Son

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mother of Sorrows, you remained close to Jesus when love cost you everything. As I walk with you through these days, teach me not to flee from the suffering of Christ or the pain of those beside me. Hold my grief near your pierced heart, and lead me through every sorrow to the faithful love of your Son. Amen.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn't respect him.

Mary knew the goodness of Jesus more closely than anyone, and so the world's rejection of him wounded her deeply. She remained faithful when others hid their faces. Her compassion calls us to recognize Christ in people who are mocked, excluded, or treated as burdens, and to stay near every wounded neighbor.

Mother of the rejected Savior, keep me from turning my face away from suffering. Give comfort to everyone who feels despised or abandoned. Teach me to stand beside the lonely with the same faithful love that kept you near your Son, and defend their God-given dignity today. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Our Lady of Sorrows, you know the weight of a heart that loves and grieves. Receive the intention I carry and place it beside the Cross of your Son. Comfort all who mourn, strengthen all who suffer, and obtain for me a compassion that stays present. When sorrow darkens my way, keep me faithful until Christ turns mourning into joy. Amen.
