A Mother's Heart for God's Family

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, wholly open to God and united to the Heart of Jesus, receive me into your motherly care. Teach me to listen to the word, serve with haste, praise with humility, and remain faithful beneath the Cross. Lead my heart away from sin and toward the love of your Son. Amen.

She called out with a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Elizabeth greets Mary as the mother of her Lord. Her motherhood begins with Jesus and remains wholly dependent on him. Because believers are joined to Christ, Catholic tradition also receives Mary's maternal care within the family of the Church. She never replaces the Savior; she helps his disciples remain close to him and to one another.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of the Lord, pray for the whole family of the Church. Draw estranged Christians toward unity in your Son, comfort those who feel motherless or forgotten, and teach me to receive every disciple with tenderness. Keep our belonging centered on Jesus. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, take the intention I carry and present it to your Son. Shelter those who are afraid, comfort those pierced by sorrow, and call wandering hearts back to grace. Obtain for me a clean and steadfast heart, so that my thoughts, choices, and loves may belong more completely to Jesus. Amen.
