The Gift of Fortitude

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. Let us pray: O God, who taught the hearts of your faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us by that same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in his consolation. Come, Holy Spirit, and strengthen me with the gift of fortitude. When the way is long and I am tired, hold me up. Give me courage to do what is right when it costs me something, and patience to carry what cannot yet be changed. Be my strength, my God and my good. Amen.
