Many Rooms

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of your servants the forgiveness of all their sins. Through our prayers may they obtain the mercy they have always desired. By the merits of your Son's death and resurrection, lead them out of every shadow and into your perfect light. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

In my Father's house are many homes. If it weren't so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

Jesus did not only promise heaven in general; he promised to prepare a place, as if to say there is room for each particular soul. The home he is preparing is not crowded or impersonal. We pray that the souls we love may soon enter the room made ready for them, and one day find us there with them.

Lord Jesus, you have gone to prepare a place in your Father's house for each one you love. Lead the souls I am praying for into the home you have made ready for them. Let them cross the last distance into your presence, and prepare a place for me as well, so that we may be together in you. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
