First Reading
Jeremiah 30:1-2, 12-15, 18-22jeremias 301The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2"The LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.
12For the LORD says, "Your hurt is incurable. Your wound is grievous.
13There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up. You have no healing medicines.
14All your lovers have forgotten you. They don't seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.
15Why do you cry over your injury? Your pain is incurable. For the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you.
18The LORD says: "Behold, I will reverse the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places. The city will be built on its own hill, and the palace will be inhabited in its own place.
19Thanksgiving will proceed out of them with the voice of those who make merry. I will multiply them, and they will not be few; I will also glorify them, and they will not be small.
20Their children also will be as before, and their congregation will be established before me. I will punish all who oppress them.
21Their prince will be one of them, and their ruler will proceed from among them. I will cause him to draw near, and he will approach me; for who is he who has had boldness to approach me?" says the LORD.
22"You shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 102:16-18, 19-21, 29, 22-23psalms 10216So the nations will fear the LORD's name, all the kings of the earth your glory.
17For the LORD has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory.
18He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer.
19This will be written for the generation to come. A people which will be created will praise the LORD,
20for he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, the LORD saw the earth,
21to hear the groans of the prisoner, to free those who are condemned to death,
29The children of your servants will continue. Their offspring will be established before you."
22that men may declare the LORD's name in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,
23when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

Gospel
Matthew 14:22-36matthew 1422Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
26When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear.
27But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Cheer up! It is I! Don't be afraid."
28Peter answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters."
29He said, "Come!" Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
30But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
31Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
32When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God!"
34When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;
36and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
