First Reading
Jeremiah 15:10, 16-21jeremias 1510Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; yet every one of them curses me.
16Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, LORD, God of Armies.
17I didn't sit in the assembly of those who make merry and rejoice. I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.
18Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?
19Therefore the LORD says, "If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take out the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you, but you will not return to them.
20I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall. They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you," says the LORD.
21"I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible."

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 59:2-3, 4, 10-11, 17, 18psalms 592Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
3Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.
4For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, LORD.
10Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower.
11My God will go before me with his loving kindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.
17But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.
18To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

Gospel
John 11:19-27john 1119Many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
20Then when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary stayed in the house.
21Therefore Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn't have died.
22Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you."
23Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
24Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.
26Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
27She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, God's Son, he who comes into the world."
