About Saint Willibald of Eichstätt
Willibald was an eighth-century English monk and unusually well-traveled pilgrim whose journeys included Rome, the Holy Land, and Constantinople. After monastic years at Monte Cassino, he joined Saint Boniface’s mission in German lands and became the first bishop of Eichstätt. His dictated travel account preserves a rare early pilgrim’s testimony.
