About Saint Martial of Limoges
Martial is honored as the first bishop and evangelizer of Limoges, probably in the third century. Gregory of Tours lists him among missionaries sent to Gaul. Much later legends recast him as a first-century disciple of Jesus, but the Holy See declined that claim; reliable details beyond his foundational mission remain scarce.
