About Saint John of Nepomuk
John of Nepomuk was a fourteenth-century Bohemian priest and vicar general of Prague. During conflict between King Wenceslaus IV and Archbishop John of Jenštejn, he was tortured and thrown from Charles Bridge into the Vltava in 1393. Later tradition especially remembered him as a martyr for the confidentiality of confession.
