All Things Toward Good
Day 4 of 9 · 4 min
- 01
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
- 02
Opening
O God, Father of all consolation, you sent your apostle Jude to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and you have made him a sure helper in desperate need. As I begin this novena, turn your face toward me. Through the prayers of St. Jude, give me confidence that no cause is beyond your power and no one is beyond your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
- 03
Your Intention
Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.
In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.
- 04
Scripture
Romans 8:28We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
- 05
Reflection
To say that God works all things toward good is not to pretend that everything is good. It is to trust that nothing - not even the hardest thing - is wasted in the hands of the One who loves you. St. Jude saw the cross become the resurrection, and he prays that we learn to wait for what God will bring out of our trials.
- 06
Prayer
Father, I cannot yet see how this will be turned to good, but I believe that you can turn it. Through the intercession of St. Jude, give me patience with the parts of my life that make no sense to me. Weave even this into the good you are doing, and help me to trust you in the dark. Amen.
- 07
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
- 08
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- 09
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
- 10
Closing
St. Jude, apostle and friend of Christ, you are honored as the helper of the hopeless and the patron of cases despaired of. Pray for me in this need, that I may not lose heart but trust the goodness of God. Carry my petition before the Lord, and obtain for me the grace I ask, if it is for the good of my soul. Amen.
