Ask God for Wisdom

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, you worked through the humility of St. Joseph of Cupertino and made weakness a place for your grace. As I begin this novena, quiet the fear that tells me I am not capable or worthy. Through his intercession, bless my honest work, deepen my desire to learn, and give me peace in every challenge. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Scripture invites the person who lacks wisdom to ask without embarrassment. Prayer is not a substitute for studying; it opens study to truth, patience, and good judgment. Joseph's difficulties taught him dependence on God and help from others. Ask for wisdom, then return to the work with a quieter and more teachable heart.

God of wisdom, you are not disappointed by what I do not yet understand. By St. Joseph of Cupertino's prayers, help me ask good questions, receive correction, and study with steady attention. Bless my teachers and classmates. Give me not only remembered facts, but the wisdom to use knowledge honestly and well. Amen.
