Love That Gives What Is Needed

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God of every generation, you gave St. Carlo a joyful desire for Jesus in the Eucharist and a generous love for his neighbors. Through Carlo's intercession, renew my friendship with Christ, guide the gifts you have entrusted to me, and receive my intention. Teach me to seek holiness without display or delay. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, and one of you tells them, 'Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;' yet you didn't give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

Carlo's Eucharistic devotion bore fruit in attention to classmates and neighbors in need. Scripture refuses a charity made only of kind wishes: love notices what a real person lacks and responds with respectful, practical help. Faith at the altar must become generosity beyond it. Helpful charity listens before assuming and protects the recipient's dignity and freedom.

St. Carlo, pray that I may notice the lonely, poor, bullied, or excluded person near me. Show me one practical work of mercy I can offer, and keep my service humble, attentive, and useful. Teach me to ask what is needed and to follow through without seeking credit. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
