Our Lady of Mount Carmel Novena
Put On the Lord Jesus
Day 5 of 9 · 5 min
- 01
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
- 02
Opening
O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, you clothe your children in your holy scapular as a sign of your protection. As I begin these days of prayer, wrap me in your care and bind me to your Son. Help me to wear your habit not only on my shoulders but in my heart, living as one who belongs to you. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.
- 03
Your Intention
Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.
In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.
- 04
Scripture
Romans 13:14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
- 05
Reflection
The outer garment of the scapular is meant to lead to an inner one: to 'put on Christ,' clothing the soul in his life and turning from the things that drag it down. Mary helps us with this daily dressing of the heart, until others can see her Son in the way we live.
- 06
Prayer
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, help me to put on your Son like a garment I never take off. Strip away the habits that wound my soul, and clothe me in his gentleness and strength. Let those around me glimpse Christ in me, through your motherly care. Amen.
- 07
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
- 08
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- 09
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
- 10
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
- 11
Closing
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, you clothe and protect all who consecrate themselves to you. Take the intention I have carried through these days and present it to your Son. Keep me faithful to the end, wrapped in your protection in life and in death, and bring me at last to the mountain of heaven where you reign. Help also the holy souls who await that day. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.
- 12
Sign of the Cross
