Our Lady of Mount Carmel Novena

1

The Little Cloud

Day 1 of 9 · 5 min

  1. 01

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  2. 02

    Opening

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, you clothe your children in your holy scapular as a sign of your protection. As I begin these days of prayer, wrap me in your care and bind me to your Son. Help me to wear your habit not only on my shoulders but in my heart, living as one who belongs to you. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.

  3. 03

    Your Intention

Let us pause in silence, and bring to mind the intention you are praying for.

In the app, your own saved intention rests here during the silence. The narration stays the same for everyone.

  4. 04

    Scripture

    1 Kings 18:44

On the seventh time, he said, 'Behold, a small cloud, like a man's hand, is rising out of the sea.' He said, 'Go up, tell Ahab, 'Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn't stop you.''

  5. 05

    Reflection

On Mount Carmel, the prophet Elijah watched for rain to end a long drought, and saw at last a little cloud rising from the sea. The Carmelite tradition has long seen in that cloud a sign of Mary, who would bring the rain of grace to a parched world. From something small, God sends what the whole land needs.

  6. 06

    Prayer

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, little cloud that brings the rain of grace, come to the dry places of my life. Where I have waited long and seen nothing, give me hope. Send the mercy of your Son upon the ground of my soul, and make it fruitful again. Amen.

  7. 07

    Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  8. 08

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  9. 09

    Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

  10. 10

    Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

  11. 11

    Closing

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, you clothe and protect all who consecrate themselves to you. Take the intention I have carried through these days and present it to your Son. Keep me faithful to the end, wrapped in your protection in life and in death, and bring me at last to the mountain of heaven where you reign. Help also the holy souls who await that day. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.

  12. 12

    Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
