Open Your Hands and Ask

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. You appeared with rays of light streaming from your open hands, and said they were the graces you long to give to all who ask. As I begin these days of prayer, I open my hands to receive what you so freely offer. Let your grace pour into my life and the lives of those I love, and lead us all to your Son. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Amen.

St. Catherine saw rays that did not shine - graces, Mary said, that go ungiven because no one asks for them. God's generosity waits on our trust. The medal is a small reminder to do the simplest and most overlooked thing in the spiritual life: to ask.

O Mary, conceived without sin, you grieve over the graces that go ungiven because we fail to ask. Teach me to ask boldly and to keep asking. Obtain for me from your Son the graces I need, and the trust to believe he wants to give them. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

O Mary, conceived without sin, you showed St. Catherine the graces waiting to be poured out on all who ask. Open your hands now over the intention I have carried through these days, and present it to your Son. Win for me the graces I most need, even those I do not know to ask for, and the conversion of the hearts I love. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Amen.
