Come, Holy Spirit

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. Let us pray: O God, who taught the hearts of your faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us by that same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in his consolation. If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

Before the gifts, there is the Giver. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who overshadowed Mary, who filled the apostles with courage at Pentecost, waits to fill you. You do not climb to him; he descends. Begin by simply opening - your hands, your day, your need - and asking him to come.

Holy Spirit, gift of the Father and the Son, come to me now - not as a stranger, but as the One who has known me since I was formed. Make my heart a place where you are at home. Breathe in me, that I may think what is holy; move in me, that I may do what is good; draw me, that I may love what is holy. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Holy Spirit, soul of my soul, I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, and console me. Tell me what I should do, and give me the grace to do it. I promise to be open to whatever you ask of me, and to accept all that you allow to happen to me. Only show me your will. Amen.
