The First Sign at Cana

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Father, you gave Mary a listening heart and made her the mother of your Son. Through her intercession, teach me to contemplate the mysteries of Christ, welcome his word, and carry the intention of this nine-day novena into your loving care. Let repetition quiet distraction and deepen attentive love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

At Cana, Mary's attention and the servants' obedience frame the first sign through which Jesus reveals his glory. The mystery leads beyond the gift of wine to faith in the Giver. Bring your need honestly, then ask for eyes that recognize what Christ is revealing through his answer. Her brief direction keeps attention on him and invites obedient action.

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, place my need before your Son and lead me toward deeper faith in him. Help me recognize his glory, trust his wisdom, and cooperate with the grace he gives. Whatever the outcome, pray that he keeps me attentive to his word and ready to serve. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Pray that his joyful, luminous, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries may shape my life, and place my intention before him in faithful hope. Teach me to carry contemplation into mercy, peace, and faithful witness. Amen.
